In
a Year 8 lesson on migration, we listened to Abba's song Fernando. We
talked about crossing the border between Mexico and the USA, and about
the idea of the "American Dream" Tamara's brilliant poem is extraordinary in the way it conjures up images of life in a poor rural area in Mexico. Maya was the only student to think about Irish emigration. Her poem seems to be influenced by a certain feature film! It's very long (and very good!) Leyla's poem continues the theme of the song "Fernando" Read Fauzan's poem as his imaginary migrant wrestles with the idea of making an attempt to cross the border into a new country. And finally, this is Ross's American Dream! (Thanks to Amanda Killen for typing the poems!) |
