Come and Live in Temple Fortune!

Temple Fortune

The family I am writing to include eight year old Hannah, 49 year old Keith who is her father and her mother Beverley who is 46. Keith is a biologist who works in the university and loves fungi and brewing. Beverley is a primary school teacher. Hannah goes to junior school. They live in Richmond, which is a small town in Yorkshire.

Dear Keith, Bev and Hannah,

I have been wondering if you would ever like to come and live in Temple Fortune, near us? Temple Fortune is in north - west London. It is an area bordered by the North Circular Road, Golders Green and the Garden Suburb. The Finchley Road goes through the middle of it. I think it would be just right for you and now I will show and tell you why.

Being in London, Temple Fortune is in easy reach of some very amazing and important places. For instance London Zoo can be easily got to by public transport. All the major museums can be reached by just one bus from the local bus station. In fact public transport to and from the area is excellent. The immediate area is also very good for your family.

For you, Keith, there are a whole range of forests and woods. Another very good place would be Hampstead Heath. You can find a lot of different fungi in these places.

There are also some pubs very near by. To help you keep fit there are three places to play tennis in the locality. You would find it easy to ride your bike as there are many cycle routes. Just outside of Temple Fortune is Middlesex University and the University of North London both of which may offer you a job.

For you, Beverley, there are many theatres around including one in walking distance. The West End is filled with theatres and buses go there from the end of our road. There is a small art gallery literally right at the end of our road and a few doors down is a bookshop. In the Garden Suburb, which is just over the main road from us, there are often concerts. There is also a very nice garden centre. Teachers are needed in all our primary schools.

Hannah, there are some brilliant parks. The nearest one is just down our road. It has a nice little playground and loads of grassy area. A short bus ride away there is Golders Hill Park. That park has a lot of different animals and also it leads right into Hampstead Heath. There are a lot of nice primary schools near by. I personally enjoyed my time at Wessex Gardens School very much. Even nearer there is Garden Suburb School where my mum used to go. There are lots of really nice children around here and because it is so safe we all play out in the street together.

We have got a nice community with a wide mix of people. This means we also have lots of useful shops locally. There is an Iranian grocers' which has a lot of unusual foods. There is a huge Jewish bakers where you can buy wonderful breads and rolls. They also give us free biscuits as we know them. There is a fishmonger and a newsagent with sweets and chocolates. Lolita who runs it is very friendly. As well as the smaller shops there are two supermarkets, Waitrose and Marks and Spencer, a Boots and a Smiths. We even have our own post office. There are several other chemists and shops and a police station. As to restaurants and cafes we are spoiled for choice. For your cat there is a pet shop on the corner of our street. Our local area is quite green. The side streets are lined with trees. Most of the houses have front and back gardens. There is a lot of wild life particularly birds who nest in the trees and hedges. In our garden we have squirrels, hedgehogs and recently we have had a fox.

I hope you will consider what I have said and think about moving to Temple Fortune.

Love from Rebecca.
