Fieldwork on river Meavy near Princetown.
Thursday:
Guided tour of Lee Moor china clay quarry.
Visit Princetown visitors centre, Dartmoor.
Ecology study of old quarries
Friday: Return to London
We followed a similar
itinerary to last year but cutting out the very long walk down the Meavy
valley. The weather was extremely wet at times and we had to abandon the
ecology survey in Foggintor quarry that we had planned. The highlights
of the trip this year included Deena's adventures in the bog, finding
some 4000 year old hut circles and the traditional "rushing"
of Mr Bown.
We
thought that all the students who took part this year were absolutely
brilliant!
